I was actually going to do some more animation in this flash file, but stupid Flash 8 crashed before I could save it, so now it's all unfininshed and sketchy.
All that's left is this .swf file that was unharmed. So here you go.
Nice. Seems like it could have used a timing adjustment, so it reads better, but who knows what you were going to do before the FLASHCRASH. Been there a few times. It may be a flow breaker at times, but try to make it habit to hit save after every few moves. I still forget to sometimes and still pay for it, though. Adobe programs like to get their crash on, so best to be prepared.
It's a good cartoon gag that I don't think I've really seen before, it just had a steady, fluid timing where you'd probably want to feel the smack on the board more and a slight delay dropping back off it. Timing physical gags takes some practice.
If you've got the ability to go to any animation school, go for it. Not just for the training, but the experience and contacts. I didn't really consider that when I was determined to show them you didn't need school to learn the skills (because I couldn't afford it). You can learn on your own, but the credentials are a lot more important than I thought they were. I always used to think I'd wow them with self taught skills, but being able to say you went to this or that school is always more respected, at least when it comes to getting jobs. That's one thing I'd do differently if I could reset back to fresh out of high school. All depends on what you want out of it.
Yes, Adobe products are assholes.
Hopefully I'll learn how to time better when I set off into animation schooling, or get the Preston Blair book.
